Concrete Polish

Types of Polished Concrete Finishes

Although there are many types of concrete finishes these are often the most common

Salt and Pepper Polish

Salt and Pepper Polish

Salt and Pepper Polish

A salt and pepper finished floor, is one in which the surface of the concrete is lightly ground, exposing the smallest aggregate or stone in the concrete mix. While this finish is often used in new residential construction, it is extremely widespread in commercial or industrial applications.

Medium Stone Polish

Salt and Pepper Polish

Salt and Pepper Polish

Medium stone exposure in polished concrete means the concrete surface is ground to reveal a random mix of medium and fine aggregates, creating a textured, natural look.   The process involves grinding the top 2-3mm of the concrete surface to expose the underlying aggregates.

Full-Stone Polish

Salt and Pepper Polish

Full-Stone Polish

Full exposed polished concrete involves grinding away the top layer of concrete to reveal the underlying aggregate, creating a unique, textured, and durable floor.

FULL EXPOSURE is where the maximum possible exposure of aggregate (pebbles) is sought

Cream Polish

Satin Finish

Full-Stone Polish

A cream polished concrete floor is a floor where the surface of a new concrete pour is polished. In other words, we skip the ‘cutting’ step, so there is no concrete removal from the floor’s surface. The floors natural variations from the concrete pour will be visible, creating an organic, varicoloured or marbled-like appearance.

Satin Finish

Satin Finish

A satin finish concrete polish offers a subtle, low-sheen appearance, striking a balance between the matte and high-gloss options. It is achieved by grinding and polishing the concrete to a satin sheen.

Gloss Finish

Satin Finish

Satin Finish

Concrete polishing is a specialized process that involves refining the surface of concrete to achieve a smooth, glossy finish. It is typically performed using diamond abrasives and chemical densifiers that work together to transform ordinary concrete into a visually appealing and highly durable surface.

Other concrete polished finishes that we offer:

  • High Gloss
  • Stained Concrete
  • Grind and Seal
  • Matte (flat)
  • Honed
  • Semi-Gloss finish
  • Burnished finish

BENEFITS OF A POLISHED CONCRETE FLOOR

 Durability and Longevity:

  • Resistant to wear and tear: Concrete is naturally a tough material, and polishing enhances its resistance to scratches, stains, and damage, making it ideal for high-traffic areas.
  • Long-lasting: Polished concrete floors can last for decades with minimal maintenance, saving you money and time in the long run.

Low Maintenance:

  • Easy to clean: The smooth, non-porous surface of polished concrete makes it easy to clean and maintain, requiring only regular sweeping and occasional mopping.
  • No need for waxing or sealing: Unlike other flooring options, polished concrete doesn't require frequent waxing or sealing, saving you time and effort.

Cost-Effectiveness:

  • Reduced maintenance costs: The durability and ease of cleaning of polished concrete lead to lower long-term maintenance costs.
  • Cost-effective alternative: Polished concrete can be a more budget-friendly option than traditional flooring materials like carpet or hardwood, especially when considering its durability and longevity.

Aesthetic Appeal:

  • Modern and stylish: Polished concrete floors offer a sleek, contemporary look that can enhance the aesthetic appeal of any space.
  • Versatile design options: Polished concrete can be customized with various colors, stains, and patterns, allowing for a wide range of design possibilities.

Other Benefits:

  • Environmentally friendly: Polished concrete is a sustainable flooring option, as it uses existing concrete slabs, minimizing waste and reducing the need for additional materials.
  • Improved ambient lighting: The reflective nature of polished concrete can enhance natural light and reduce the need for artificial lighting, saving energy and costs.
  • Increased slip resistance: While polished concrete looks shiny, the process increases the coefficient of friction, making it safer than ordinary concrete.
  • Thermal properties: Polished concrete can help regulate indoor temperatures, feeling cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Difference between concrete POlish and A Grind & Seal

Concrete Polish

Polished concrete involves a more intensive process of grinding and densifying the concrete to achieve a high-shine finish.

Grind & Seal

Grind and seal concrete involves grinding a concrete floor to expose the aggregate, then applying a topical sealer to achieve a durable, stain-resistant, and often rustic or industrial-looking finish, which is a more affordable alternative to polished concrete
